Ontheside Community Guidelines
Understanding our Community Guidelines:
Here at Ontheside, we aim to provide a place for athletes to share content with sports enthusiasts and other athletes. In addition, we hope to build a community that includes sports teams, clubs, associations, sports events, and the brands and businesses that support and sponsor them. The Ontheside.com platform will be a place to grow, learn, and engage with some amazing and talented individuals who defy the odds on a daily basis. By sharing a little of themselves with all of us, we hope this community will inspire the world to be better, do good, and know that as humans, our ability to achieve has no bounds.
The views expressed:
We are a global community of athletes from different countries with a variety of experiences, perspectives, and beliefs. As such, we will inevitably bring views to the platform that are different from each other. Whether they may be similar or different to your own, and regardless of whether you agree or disagree, their opinions are theirs as your opinions are yours. These community guidelines are here to create an environment where everyone has the ability to showcase their talents, share their stories, and provide content to other athletes and fans. What this means is that to support everyone, we need to ensure that no one oversteps these guidelines.
What type of content we allow:
Ontheside.com, as mentioned above, is a platform specifically designed for the global sports community and its athletes, teams, clubs, associations, events, sponsors, and the like. Anything and everything related to sports can be included here, from athlete stories, matches, training programs, gear, and other related content. When you publish content, this content must be owned by you and not copied, procured, or acquired from the internet or other sources - stick to photos, videos, podcasts, newsletters, etc. you’ve created or have the right to share.
Anything not within the sports world, do not post or share here at Ontheside.com; there are other platforms that cater to that content. It should go without saying, but we’ll say it anyways, keep it clean and professional – do not publish anything that might offend a reasonable person looking for sports content. This also means you might want to stay away from politics and religion so as to not offend. It’s like a first date - know what to keep to yourself and what to share if you want a second date. Also, keep any posts or comments genuine and sincere. Do not post anything that promotes crime, hate, violence, harm to yourself or others, acts of terrorism or any adult or sexually explicit content – such content is absolutely prohibited.
So, once again, if the content does not meet our sports objective, we will notify you and remove the content. Do it again, and we will remove your listing and your ability to post content of any kind. If you are a fan, a content consumer, and post comments that fall into any of the restricted areas listed above, your account will be removed and you will be banned from using the platform. Bottom line, keep it clean and professional and we’ll get along just fine.
Respect others and others will respect you:
Our goal is to create a safe place, a platform, for a diverse group of people, related to sports, to support each other through sponsorships, content, and community. Be thoughtful. All those involved with this platform are doing their best to meet the goals they have established for themselves. These goals of self-improvement may range from emotional support and inspiration to physical training and guidance. Regardless of what they seek, it is important and a priority to them. It is not for anyone to judge nor is it for anyone to criticize. Be positive. Be caring. Be a good human. This community of athletes and sports enthusiasts should set a higher standard of behavior that others wish to model; encourage and inspire those around you to improve themselves through sport. And maybe, through sport, we can change the world for the better.
You are in control:
While we might think that all content is good content, and every voice should be heard, maybe not so much. In a situation where you do not appreciate content that someone posts, don’t look and keep scrolling. If it is from someone you follow, then choose to not follow them. Your happiness is up to you. If you see or hear something that you believe violates these guidelines, we would appreciate a quick email or note to us so we might take a look and potentially take it down. This is all we ask of you. Send us an email.
Respect, follow, and do not break the law:
Ontheside.com is a place for sports and a positive attitude. It is not a place for terrorism, organized crime, hate groups, sexual services, buying or selling firearms, alcohol, drugs, or the like. Sports—it’s all about sports. That said, this is not a place for gambling, betting, bribing or online real money games of skill, even if they are sports related. There are other platforms for that—Ontheside.com is to highlight athletes, teams, clubs, and the associations that support them. If we think it’s necessary, we will work with law enforcement, especially if we believe there is a risk of physical harm or risk to public safety.
Be exceptional:
Once again, we aim to provide a place for athletes to share content with sports enthusiasts and other athletes. We hope to build a community that includes sports teams, clubs, associations, sports events, and the brands and businesses that support and sponsor them. The Ontheside.com platform is a place to grow, learn, and engage with some amazing and talented individuals who defy the odds on a daily basis. We are here to inspire the world to be better, do good, and know no bounds.
